Rubén Sellés appointed as the new head coach of AEK Larnaca
AEK Larnaca FC officially announced the appointment of 43-year-old Spanish coach Rubén Sellés as their new manager on August 25, 2026. Sellés has signed a one-year contract, succeeding Mauro Camoranesi, whose tenure ended 11 days prior to this appointment. The decision was spearheaded by technical director Xavi Roca, who sought a stable solution following a difficult start to the season.
Sellés brings extensive international experience, having worked with teams such as Southampton, Reading, Hull City, Sheffield United, and Real Zaragoza, as well as serving in coaching staff roles across several European countries since starting his career in 2008. Interestingly, Sellés was a strong candidate for the vacant coaching position at APOEL earlier in the summer, traveling to Cyprus for negotiations that ultimately failed to result in a deal. He arrived in Cyprus on August 26, 2026, and held his first training session the same day. He is scheduled to be officially presented at a press conference on August 27 and will make his debut on the bench during the upcoming league opener against his former suitor, APOEL, on August 29.
