Owner arrested after fatal dog attack in Menidi
A 54-year-old Ukrainian national was arrested in Menidi, Attica, following a dog attack on a local resident and her pet. The incident occurred on Amaryllidos Street. While AlphaNews reports that the victim was a 16-year-old walking in the evening at approximately 9:00 p.m., Cyprus Times reports that the victim was a 26-year-old attacked during the morning hours. Authorities confirmed that the attacker was a dog kept within the owner's yard that escaped or reached the passerby.
The victim sustained minor injuries during the struggle, while her own dog died as a result of the injuries inflicted during the attack. The 54-year-old owner has been taken into police custody. A formal case file has been opened against him, charging him with violations of animal welfare laws, destruction of property, and negligent bodily harm.
