Greek singer Dimitris Kokotas dies at 57

Greek singer Dimitris Kokotas has passed away at the age of 57 following a lengthy hospitalization. The artist had been receiving medical care at the Gennimatas Hospital in Athens since March 28, 2024, when he suffered a myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest during rehearsals for the television show 'J2US'. While reports vary regarding the exact length of his stay, citing either two years or two and a half years, he remained under medical supervision until his death.

Born on December 14, 1968, Dimitris Kokotas was the son of the renowned folk singer Stamatis Kokotas. He carved out his own successful career in the Greek music industry during the 1990s, notably releasing his first gold-certified album, 'Diadoseis', in February 1994, which featured music and lyrics by Phoebus. Throughout his professional life, he collaborated with prominent artists, including Marinella, Kaiti Garbi, Angela Dimitriou, and his father.

Following his medical emergency in 2024, the singer spent a significant period in the intensive care unit. Despite the ongoing efforts of the medical staff and the constant support of his family, his condition did not improve, and he eventually succumbed to the complications of his health crisis.
