Recent fire incidents across Cyprus
Cyprus authorities are investigating several fire incidents that occurred between August 25 and August 26, 2026. On the evening of August 25, a blaze broke out at a bakery storage facility in the Aradippou industrial area. Firefighters, including the EMAK unit, contained the fire within 30 minutes, and search operations confirmed no one was trapped inside. Investigations into the cause have been delayed pending a structural stability inspection of the building.
In a separate development, a restaurant in Chlorakas, Paphos, was severely damaged by a fire early on August 26. Emergency services were alerted at 3:03 am and brought the flames under control by 3:25 am. Police and the Fire Service have officially classified the incident as arson, and investigations to identify the perpetrators are underway. Additionally, over 750 hay bales were destroyed in a fire in Avgorou late on August 25, which is being handled by the Famagusta CID. Finally, on August 26, fire crews were deployed to the Agia Anna community near the Achnarka forest to combat a blaze located near a residential area.
