Nottingham Forest completes record-breaking transfer of Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest has officially acquired 23-year-old English forward Liam Delap from Chelsea in what is confirmed as the most expensive transfer in the club's history. The agreement involves a base fee of 52 million euros, with an additional 6 million euros in potential bonuses, bringing the total value to 58 million euros.

Delap, who joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town for approximately 35-40 million euros just one year ago, struggled to secure a starting position under manager Xabi Alonso. He recorded two goals in 41 appearances across all competitions during his time in London. His move to Nottingham Forest followed successful negotiations with manager Oliver Glasner, who convinced the player to join the project at the City Ground. The deal is now complete, with the player set to undergo medical examinations and finalize his contract.

This signing follows a period where Delap had been excluded from Chelsea's first-team plans and was training individually. The acquisition marks a significant strategic effort by the Nottingham Forest ownership to bolster their attacking options for the new Premier League season.
