Cyprus issues new yellow warnings for extreme heat as weather shifts

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a series of yellow warnings for extreme heat as the country continues to experience high temperatures. A warning was in effect for August 26, from 13:30 to 16:00, with inland temperatures reaching approximately 40°C. Following this, a new yellow warning (No. 57) was issued for August 27, covering the same peak hours of 13:00 to 16:00, as inland areas are once again expected to see the mercury climb to 40°C.

While the region is currently influenced by a seasonal low-pressure system, meteorological forecasts indicate a significant change in the weather pattern this coming Saturday. A disturbance arriving from the north is expected to bring localized rains and isolated thunderstorms, which will likely lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures across the island. Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid prolonged sun exposure during the specified peak heat hours. The overall weather for the next few days will remain clear with some localized cloud cover, though morning hours may see the formation of thin fog or mist in inland and eastern areas.
