Yellow weather warning issued for Cyprus as temperatures reach 40 degrees

During this period, inland temperatures reached approximately 40 degrees Celsius, affecting areas including Athalassa, Mammari, and Nicosia. Despite the high temperatures in the interior, the weather took an unexpected turn in mountainous regions, where rainfall and hail were recorded during the afternoon. This phenomenon, attributed to seasonal low pressure, offered a brief reprieve from the heat. Official forecasts indicate that while today's conditions remain warm, a significant weather change is expected starting Saturday, August 29. A weather disturbance approaching from the north is projected to bring scattered rain, isolated thunderstorms, and a noticeable drop in temperatures, potentially falling below seasonal averages.
