20-year-old arrested in Nicosia for smuggling two kilograms of cannabis

On August 25, 2026, the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) arrested a 20-year-old man in Nicosia following an intelligence-led operation. The authorities identified a courier package arriving from abroad at a local delivery company, which contained approximately two kilograms of cannabis. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to collect the parcel.

Upon conducting a physical search of the individual, officers discovered an additional two grams of cannabis in his possession. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court on August 26, 2026, where authorities will request his detention to facilitate further investigation.
