Woman behind 'Sandy' pseudonym speaks out as legal proceedings against journalist Makarios Drousiotis advance

The woman known by the pseudonym 'Sandy,' who is at the heart of a major political and criminal investigation in Cyprus and Greece, has spoken publicly for the first time. In written statements to the Cyprus Times, she admitted to assuming a fictional role and creating non-genuine messages, but firmly denied claims of being coerced or bribed. She alleged her involvement began through discussions with lawyer Nikos Kliridis, though Kliridis has disputed this, claiming she had already adopted the identity before they connected. She also noted a 2023 meeting with journalist Makarios Drousiotis, suggesting he appeared to already have a formed view of the case at that time.

Makarios Drousiotis, who faces legal charges alongside 'Sandy' in a case involving 101 accusations of circulating forged documents and spreading false information, responded by calling for an investigation into her electronic devices. He specifically highlighted that while her mobile phone is reportedly missing, her computer potentially contains evidence. Drousiotis expressed his willingness to submit his own devices for forensic examination, emphasizing that the authenticity of the primary source material is the crucial unresolved issue.

The case, which alleges a network of corruption involving political, judicial, and business figures, is now formally before the courts. Police spokesperson Byron Byronos confirmed that all claims will be adjudicated during the trial. Both parties remain public adversaries while the judicial process continues.
