Serena Williams made her competitive return to the U.S. Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium in August 2026, partnering with defending men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz for the mixed doubles event. The pair successfully defeated Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool 5-3, 4-1 in their opening round match, where Williams demonstrated her enduring strength with a 120 mph ace.

However, the duo was eliminated in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, losing 5-4(4), 4-1 to Flavio Cobolli and Belinda Bencic. Following this defeat, Cobolli and Bencic advanced to the semi-finals to face Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils. Williams, who announced her return to tennis in June after a four-year hiatus, did not participate in the singles competition.
