Cyprus launches 2026 support program for religious groups

The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus has officially announced the launch of the 'Support Scheme for Cultural Activities of Religious Groups' for the year 2026. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance for cultural projects organized by the Armenian, Latin, and Maronite communities, ensuring the preservation and promotion of their respective cultural identities.

The scheme covers a broad range of creative fields, including literature, music, theater, cinema, visual arts, folk culture, and dance. Funding is available for activities implemented directly by the offices of the Representatives of the three religious groups or by entities associated with them. Deputy Minister of Culture Klea Papaellina stated that these communities are essential threads in the fabric of Cypriot identity.

By fostering cultural pluralism, the program acts as a catalyst for strengthening social cohesion across the island. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to highlight the diverse heritage of Cyprus, ensuring that these distinct religious groups remain active participants in the nation's contemporary cultural dialogue.
