High-security inmate at Cyprus Central Prisons records podcasts from cell

A significant security scandal has erupted at the Cyprus Central Prisons after Taner Tolga Tarlacı, a high-security inmate, recorded and published multiple YouTube podcasts from inside Wing 10. Tarlacı, a former participant in the Turkish reality show 'Survivor' who is serving a prison sentence for rape, deprivation of liberty, and threats of violence against a 35-year-old woman, conducted interviews on August 14, 15, and 23, 2026. The inmate, convicted in 2023 for crimes committed in Paralimni in 2022, used his access to technology to appeal to international figures, including Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, claiming he is a victim of racism and an unfair judicial process.

While the Ministry of Justice indicated that the prisoner had authorization for certain forms of internet communication, the production of unauthorized podcast interviews has led to an ongoing investigation.
