Limassol municipality unveils major fleet modernization project

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis, presented a comprehensive fleet modernization program at the municipal wholesale market. The initiative, running from July 2024 to July 2026, aims to improve municipal services, enhance efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs by gradually replacing the city's aging fleet.

The project involves 22 contracts with a total value of approximately €5.6 million plus VAT, covering the acquisition and maintenance of 70 new vehicles and machines. To date, 35 units have been delivered to the municipality, including four self-propelled street sweepers, three electric pedestrian-operated sweepers, two high-pressure washing vehicles, and one beach-cleaning machine. One of the street sweepers was donated by the company XM. The remaining 35 vehicles and pieces of machinery are scheduled for delivery throughout 2026 and 2027.

Mayor Armeftis emphasized that the focus is on cleaning services, aiming to improve the maintenance of streets, public areas, and beaches, as well as waste collection. The municipality continues to integrate these new assets into its operations to meet the growing needs of the city and provide better service to its residents.
