Cypriot civil service unions discuss proposed pension reforms

The Coordinating Body of Organizations and Associations of the Public Sector in Cyprus convened at the PASYDY offices on Wednesday to review a proposed legislative bill on pension reform. The meeting served as a platform for union representatives to receive updates on ongoing discussions regarding the Ministry of Labor's latest draft, which was recently submitted to the Labor Advisory Board.

During the session, participants examined several critical aspects of the reform, specifically focusing on the calculation factors for basic and supplementary pensions, actuarial reductions for early retirement, and the long-term sustainability of the Social Insurance Fund. Furthermore, the unions addressed the necessity of providing concrete support for low-income pensioners and clarified the regulations surrounding contributions for individuals who continue to work beyond the age of 65.

Following the meeting, representatives compiled a series of questions and feedback points to be presented during upcoming consultations.
