Minister of agriculture visits waste management facilities in Pentakomo and Koshi

On August 26, 2026, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus, Christos Senekis, visited the Integrated Waste Management Facilities (OEAD) in Pentakomo and Koshi. Accompanied by the Director General of the Environment Department, Kostas Konstantinou, the Minister assessed the current operational status and addressed long-standing issues affecting both sites.

The discussions focused on resolving accumulated administrative and operational backlogs. Officials noted that the facility in Pentakomo has undergone specific improvements since the state assumed control in December 2023. To ensure long-term sustainability, the government is conducting a comprehensive study regarding the infrastructure network for municipal solid waste management.

Pending the final results of this viability study, the ministry is proceeding with immediate operational interventions. These short-term measures are designed to integrate into future upgrade plans, ensuring that current investments remain viable and contribute effectively to the national waste management network.
