Woman held in custody following fatal stabbing of husband in Gerolakkos

A woman has been remanded in custody for an additional eight days in the occupied area of Gerolakkos following the murder of her husband on the night of Saturday, August 22, 2026. The suspect confessed to attacking her husband while he was sleeping in their shared bedroom.

According to the investigation, the woman stabbed her husband 30 times, with five of the wounds proving fatal. The suspect, who turned herself in to the authorities immediately after the crime, claimed during interrogation that she committed the murder because she believed her husband was planning to steal her personal belongings.

Law enforcement authorities have already collected 20 statements as part of the ongoing investigation. Given that the inquiry is still active, the local court granted a request to extend the suspect's detention for another eight days to allow police to complete their procedural tasks.
