Tony Vilhena departs Panathinaikos for Willem II

Panathinaikos has officially announced the departure of 31-year-old Dutch midfielder Tony Vilhena, who has transferred to the Dutch club Willem II. The move concludes his three-year tenure with the Greek side, effectively ending his contract a year early.

Vilhena joined Panathinaikos in the summer of 2023, recording 47 appearances and one goal across all competitions. During his time in Greece, he was part of the squad that won the 2024 Greek Cup. He also spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Alanyaspor. Having fallen out of favor under current manager Jacob Neestrup, his exit allows the club to offload his wages from the remaining year of his contract.

His move marks a return to his home country, where he previously gained extensive experience with Feyenoord and made 15 appearances for the Netherlands national team. While initial reports earlier this summer linked him with a potential move to Cambuur, he ultimately finalized the agreement to join Willem II.
