Cyprus government to initiate annual public reports on missing persons

The Office of the Presidential Commissioner in Cyprus has announced the institutionalization of an annual public presentation dedicated to the efforts of determining the fate of missing persons. This initiative aims to provide families with consistent, transparent, and responsible updates regarding the ongoing search for their loved ones, addressing both the progress made and the persistent challenges encountered in these humanitarian efforts.

The inaugural public report is scheduled for January 2027 and will cover the operational period spanning from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. This policy reflects the commitment of President Nikos Christodoulides and his administration to intensify efforts until the fate of the final missing individual is determined. The government states that such transparency is a fundamental obligation of the state toward families who have awaited answers for decades.
