Evagoras Antoniou returns to AEL Limassol
AEL Limassol has officially announced the acquisition of 23-year-old Cypriot defender Evagoras Antoniou. The player, who spent his formative years in the club's academy between 2014 and 2020, has signed a three-year contract that keeps him at the club until 2029.
Antoniou returns to Cyprus following a short, two-month stint with the Romanian side Arges Pitesti. The transfer was facilitated by AEL coach Hugo Martins, who previously collaborated with the defender at Omonia Aradippou and strongly advocated for his return to Limassol. The deal involves AEL securing the full rights to the player from Arges Pitesti.
This move marks a homecoming for the international defender, who had moved to APOEL after his time at AEL's academy before eventually heading abroad. With the agreement finalized, Antoniou has officially joined the team, successfully completing his transition back to his roots in Limassol.
