Evagoras Antoniou set to return to AEL Limassol

AEL Limassol is in advanced negotiations to re-sign 23-year-old Cypriot defender Evagoras Antoniou. The player is expected to depart from the Romanian club Arges Pitesti after a short two-month stint, citing dissatisfaction with his presence in Romania, and is planning a return to Cyprus to join the Limassol-based team.

The transfer is heavily influenced by AEL manager Hugo Martins, who previously worked with Antoniou at Omonia Aradippou and explicitly approved the move. The player is a product of AEL’s youth academy, having developed within the club's ranks between 2014 and 2020, though he did not record an appearance for the senior team during his initial tenure. While most sources report he spent two months in Romania, one source suggests the tenure was closer to three months following his move from APOEL.
