On Wednesday, Gates released a 6,000-word essay on his personal website detailing his specific concerns, which include potential risks such as bioterrorism and the emergence of new pandemics. To mitigate these dangers, he proposed several solutions, including the implementation of new taxes and specific regulatory bans on certain AI capabilities. Gates emphasized that the industry's focus on economic growth often comes at the expense of public safety, suggesting that the current pace of innovation is outpacing humanity's ability to prepare for its consequences.
