Road closures in Kato Deftera due to water network fault

On August 25, 2026, the Nicosia Water Board announced water supply interruptions in the Kokkinotrimithia area due to the installation of new water supply pipelines. The maintenance work was scheduled to conclude by the afternoon of Tuesday, August 26.

Subsequently, on the morning of August 27, local authorities in Kato Deftera reported road closures following a separate fault in the water supply network. The affected areas included a segment of Archbishop Makarios Avenue, extending from the junction with K. Misiaouli Street toward Lapatsa, and Chrysospiliotissas Street. Police had advised motorists to utilize alternative routes and adhere to temporary traffic signage while repairs were underway.

By midday on August 27, the Police reported that the road damage had been repaired and traffic circulation on Archbishop Makarios Avenue and Chrysospiliotissas Street had returned to normal. The authorities confirmed that the infrastructure issues were resolved, ending the period of traffic disruption in the village.
