Recent wave of violent incidents in Limassol under police investigation
Limassol authorities are investigating several violent incidents that occurred between August 26 and August 28, 2026. On the night of August 26, a 41-year-old man was robbed of his electric scooter near the Molos area by four individuals also riding scooters. Shortly thereafter, on the evening of August 26, a 23-year-old was attacked by five suspects outside a kiosk in the Agios Nikolaos district. When police arrived to investigate the latter incident, a group of approximately ten masked individuals confronted the officers and damaged a patrol car with a club. The victims in both cases sustained minor injuries and received hospital treatment.
Furthermore, on August 28, a separate daylight brawl occurred in the Agios Athanasios area, captured on amateur video and circulated on social media. The footage shows a man physically assaulting another person in the middle of a road following a traffic accident between a car and a motorcycle. While no official complaints were initially filed for the daylight altercation, the police have launched investigations into all these events, attempting to identify the suspects involved and determine if any of the incidents are linked.
