New plan for housing repairs for enclaved and resettled persons in occupied areas

The Office of the Presidential Commissioner of Cyprus, led by Marios Hartsiotis, announced that a new plan for the maintenance and repair of houses belonging to enclaved and resettled individuals in the occupied areas is in its final stages. The initiative is being developed in close collaboration with the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK).

Representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Presidential Commissioner’s office, and ETEK met on August 27, 2026, to address final outstanding issues regarding the proposed framework. This meeting follows previous high-level discussions between Commissioner Hartsiotis and the Minister of Interior aimed at establishing core parameters for the assistance scheme. The authorities are currently finalizing the necessary administrative procedures to advance the proposal for official approval.

The project reflects an ongoing commitment to supporting those living in or returning to the occupied territories by ensuring their housing conditions are addressed. Once the administrative tasks are completed, the draft will be submitted for formal state endorsement to begin implementation.
