Cyprus dispatches 900 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza

A new shipment of 900 tonnes of humanitarian aid has departed from Cyprus bound for Gaza, as announced by the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 27, 2026. The cargo consists of essential supplies, including food, medicines, medical equipment, hygiene products, and shelter materials intended to support the population in the conflict-affected territory.

The mission is executed under the Amalthea Plan in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the United Arab Emirates, and other international stakeholders. Contributing entities include France, Slovakia, Kuwait, the World Health Organization, the UN Development Programme, the UN Population Fund, World Central Kitchen, All Hands and Hearts, and Project Hope. The operation adheres to the monitoring mechanisms established by UN Security Council Resolution 2720, with necessary coordination among all parties involved.

Cyprus continues to function as a logistical hub for the collection, inspection, and dispatch of aid, which is routed through the port of Ashdod for final delivery. With this latest shipment, the total volume of humanitarian supplies processed via this corridor since its inception has surpassed 37,000 tonnes. The government maintains that it remains committed to providing a stable environment for these humanitarian efforts.
