Cyprus dispatches 900 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza

On August 27, 2026, a new shipment containing 900 tons of humanitarian aid departed from Cyprus destined for Gaza. This mission is part of the ongoing Amalthea project, an international initiative designed to establish a maritime corridor for delivering essential supplies to the region during the humanitarian crisis.

The cargo includes medicine, medical equipment, hygiene supplies, food, and shelter materials. The operation is conducted in close cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), under the supervision mechanism established by UN Security Council Resolution 2720, and the United Arab Emirates. Numerous international partners, including France, Slovakia, Kuwait, UNDP, UNFPA, the World Health Organization, and several humanitarian organizations like World Central Kitchen, are contributing to this effort. Cyprus continues to serve as a central hub for the collection, inspection, and transit of these supplies.

The mission reflects a coordinated effort to address the urgent needs of the local population through secured maritime routes. The operation follows established protocols for operational coordination between all involved parties to ensure the aid reaches its destination safely.
