Cyprus dispatches 900 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza via Amalthea project

On August 27, 2026, a new humanitarian aid shipment consisting of 900 tons of supplies departed from Cyprus for the Gaza Strip as part of the ongoing Amalthea project. This cargo includes essential items such as medicines, medical equipment, hygiene products, food, and shelter materials intended to address the urgent needs of the local population amidst the current crisis.

The mission is being conducted in close coordination with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), under the oversight mechanism established by UN Security Council Resolution 2720, and with the support of the United Arab Emirates. Various international entities, including the UNDP, UNFPA, WHO, World Central Kitchen, All Hands and Hearts, and Project Hope, along with contributions from France, Slovakia, and Kuwait, are facilitating the operation. Cyprus remains the primary hub for the collection, inspection, and dispatch of these supplies.

While a previous shipment of 600 tons has already successfully arrived in the region, authorities are continuing to organize subsequent transport missions to combat critical shortages. Future aid deliveries are anticipated in the coming days as part of the broader international commitment to provide relief to the affected population in Gaza.
