Cyprus Consumers Association reports stable school supply prices for 2026
A survey conducted by the Cyprus Consumers Association (KSC) across ten businesses nationwide reveals that school supply prices for the 2026 academic year remain largely consistent with 2025 levels, despite significant price variations between retailers. The study, which compared both physical and online stores, highlighted that many businesses offer lower prices for digital purchases. Data shows a wide cost range for essential items: school bags fluctuate from €1.89 to €209.95, pencil cases from €0.48 to €45.55, and notebooks from €0.32 to €12.99. Other supplies like pens and markers range from €0.20 to €18.99, while clothing items such as shirts and trousers show similar diversity in pricing.
While general costs remain stable, some specific items experienced significant shifts, such as school skirts rising from a minimum of €5 in 2025 to €11.50 in 2026, and the entry-level price for school bags increasing from €4.99 to roughly €2. The Association advises parents to prepare detailed shopping lists, compare quality and prices, and carefully inspect products for age-appropriateness. They specifically warn against items that resemble food or scents, urging consumers to conduct thorough market research to manage their back-to-school budgets effectively.
