Bronze Age Treasure of Villena stolen from Spanish museum

A highly professional heist occurred early Thursday morning, August 27, 2026, at the Archaeological Museum of Villena in the Alicante province, Spain. Authorities reported that the museum alarm was triggered between 05:16 and 05:20, and by 05:24, the perpetrators had successfully fled the scene with parts of or the entire Treasure of Villena collection. This collection is recognized as one of the most significant Bronze Age archaeological findings in Europe, dating back to approximately 1000 BC.

While officials are currently verifying the full extent of the loss, the collection includes 59 items composed of gold, silver, iron, and amber, such as cups, bracelets, and vessels.
