Cyprus digital subscription usage trails EU averages in 2025

In 2025, Cyprus reported digital subscription rates for online content that fell below the European Union averages, according to data published by Eurostat on August 27. The findings highlight a gap in consumer adoption of various paid digital services between Cypriot internet users and their broader EU counterparts.

Specific data indicates that 26.97% of internet users in Cyprus held paid subscriptions for film, series, or sports streaming services, compared to the 32.7% EU average. For music streaming, only 11.36% of Cypriot users paid for services, significantly lower than the 23% recorded across the EU. Similarly, subscriptions to news websites or publications reached 2.77% in Cyprus, while the EU average stood at 7.2%. Video game streaming subscriptions were the only category where Cyprus nearly matched the EU, with 5.89% compared to the 6.1% EU average.

Across the European Union, video streaming remained the most popular category, with nearly one in three users maintaining an active subscription.
