Central Bank of Cyprus launches digital financial literacy portal
On August 27, 2026, the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Dr. Christodoulos Patsalides, announced the launch of a new digital portal, moneypedia.cy. This initiative serves as a milestone in the execution of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy and Education, developed by the Cyprus Committee for Financial Literacy and Education (KEHAP).
The portal provides citizens with a centralized digital space featuring specialized tools and information designed to enhance financial decision-making. Dr. Patsalides emphasized that in an era of complex financial products and instant market access, merely having information is insufficient. He drew a connection between the ancient Cypriot Stoic philosophy of Zeno of Citium and modern financial literacy, advocating for prudence, self-discipline, and rational judgment.
The Governor highlighted that the quality of financial decisions made by households directly impacts the broader resilience of the national economy. By providing access to knowledge on interest rates, inflation, and investment diversification, the authorities aim to improve the decision-making capacity of the public. This project represents the first comprehensive digital resource of its kind aimed at bolstering the financial competence of Cypriot citizens.
