Greek athletes Karalis and Tentoglou shine at Zurich Diamond League
On August 27, 2026, Greek athletes Emmanouil Karalis and Miltos Tentoglou delivered historic performances at the Diamond League meeting in Zurich. Pole vaulter Emmanouil Karalis cleared 6.20 meters, setting a new Greek national record and pushing Olympic champion Armand Duplantis to the limit. Following this success, Karalis attempted to break the world record by setting the bar at 6.32 meters, marking the first time in his career he pursued such a height.
Simultaneously, long jumper Miltos Tentoglou secured first place with a best effort of 8.45 meters, achieved during his fourth attempt. Tentoglou, the reigning Olympic champion, outperformed Jamaican athletes Tajay Gayle and Wayne Pinnock, who finished with jumps of 8.33 and 8.43 meters respectively. This victory follows Tentoglou's recent gold medal win at the European Championships in Birmingham. Both athletes continue to demonstrate elite form as they prepare for the upcoming Diamond League final and future international competitions.
