Cultural events across Cyprus feature film and music festivals
Cyprus hosts a variety of cultural events from August 27 to 30, headlined by the 2nd Larnaca Festival. Organized by the Larnaca Cinema Club, the festival begins at the Municipal Garden on August 27 with an 8:00 p.m. concert by the Aurora String Quartet, directed by Artemisia Vasiliou. This is followed by a screening of the film "La Belle Epoque," starring Daniel Auteuil and Fanny Ardant, which depicts a man’s journey through historical re-enactments. Elsewhere in Nicosia, the Constantia Summer Cinema offers screenings featuring the life of Caravaggio.
Simultaneously, the musical landscape is marked by tributes to renowned composers. On August 28, the TrakArt orchestra, conducted by Aris Antoniadis with soloists Rita Antonopoulou and Giannis Dionysiou, presents "In the Light of Marios Tokas" at the Cultural Stage of the Metropolis of Tamasos, with a subsequent performance scheduled for August 29 at the Limassol Garden Theatre. Additionally, the performance "Where Have the Years Gone," dedicated to Stavros Kougioumtzis, will take place on August 28 at the Dymes Community Park as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralization Program. These events feature new orchestrations aimed at presenting classic works to a modern audience.
