Car fire investigation in Peristerona village
A car fire occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on August 28, 2026, in the village of Peristerona, Nicosia district. The vehicle was parked under an open shed outside the residence of its 75-year-old owner. The owner managed to extinguish the flames herself, though the vehicle sustained damage to its front section and windshield.
Members of the police and fire department arrived on the scene to conduct an initial investigation. The area was cordoned off later that morning to facilitate further forensic examinations aimed at determining the precise cause of the fire. The Morphou Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case and is currently investigating the incident.
