Car fire reported in Peristerona, Nicosia

Early on Friday, August 28, 2026, a fire broke out in a car parked under an open shed outside a home in Peristerona, Nicosia district. The 75-year-old owner of the vehicle discovered the blaze at approximately 3:15 a.m. and managed to extinguish it herself before it could consume the entire vehicle.

The fire resulted in damage to the front section of the car, including the front windshield. Following the incident, members of the Cyprus Police and the Fire Service arrived at the scene to secure the area and conduct an initial investigation. The site was cordoned off to facilitate a more thorough inspection during the morning hours to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The Morfou Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) has taken over the case and is currently leading the investigation into how the fire started. No injuries to the owner were reported, and authorities continue to examine the site to rule out or confirm potential criminal activity.
