Search operations continue for 75-year-old Erato Athanasiou in Tsakkistra

Search operations are ongoing for the seventh consecutive day to locate 75-year-old Erato Athanasiou, who went missing from her home in the village of Tsakkistra on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The elderly woman, described as having a thin build, brown eyes, and short black hair, was last seen around 11:00 a.m. after reportedly telling relatives she was going for her daily walk. Authorities, including the Police and Fire Service, alongside volunteer groups such as Atlas and ETEA, have been scouring the rugged forest terrain surrounding the village using drones, K9 units, helicopters, and search dogs.

Despite the deployment of extensive resources and local appeals for volunteers, the woman remains missing.
