Severe weather conditions impact Cyprus with significant temperature drop

Cyprus is experiencing a significant weather shift on Saturday, August 29, 2026, characterized by a sharp drop in temperatures and intense storms. Temperatures fell sharply from approximately 39 degrees Celsius inland and 34 degrees on the coast on Friday to about 30 degrees on Saturday. While the severe weather is expected to subside by Saturday evening, some instability with isolated rains may persist in mountainous areas through Tuesday. Meteorological officials project a gradual temperature rise starting Sunday, with normal seasonal levels—around 36 to 38 degrees inland and 32 degrees on the coast—expected to return by Tuesday. Authorities have advised caution for drivers and warned of potential hazards during the peak of the storms.
