Industrial production index shows modest growth in June 2026
The Statistical Service announced that the Industrial Production Index reached 117.6 points in June 2026 (base year 2021=100), reflecting a 0.3% increase compared to June 2025. Additionally, the data indicates that industrial production grew by 1.2% overall during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in the previous year.
Sectoral performance varied significantly. Mining and quarrying saw a substantial rise of 11.4%, while water supply and materials recovery increased by 1.5%. The manufacturing sector experienced a 0.6% growth, driven by gains in non-metallic mineral products (+7.5%) and rubber and plastic products (+4.7%). Conversely, electricity supply recorded a 4.0% decline. Significant contractions were also observed in the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, and other transport equipment (-8.5%), as well as in the production of electronic and optical equipment (-2.4%).
