Stevan Jovetić joins AEL Limassol on a two-year contract
AEL Limassol has officially announced the signing of Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetić, who has committed to the club until 2028. The 36-year-old international, known for his extensive career in European football including stints at Manchester City, Olympiacos, and most recently Omonia, arrives as a key reinforcement to strengthen the team's attacking depth for the current season.
The transfer was finalized in late August 2026, with the player successfully passing his medical examinations before signing. Coach Hugo Martins, who has overseen a major squad overhaul with 17 new signings, hopes that the veteran's experience and winning mentality will integrate well into the squad. Jovetić has been assigned the number 9 jersey, a first in his professional career.
Following his training sessions with the team, Jovetić was included in the squad for the season opener against Anorthosis at the Alphamega Stadium. Club spokesperson Nicolas Leventis confirmed that the club considers its primary transfer activity closed with this signing, focusing now on building team cohesion as they aim for a competitive campaign in the league.
