Stevan Jovetic signs with AEL Limassol

AEL Limassol officially announced the signing of 36-year-old Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic on August 28, 2026. The player, who was a free agent after departing Omonia at the end of the previous season, has signed a contract that will keep him with the Limassol-based club until 2028. Following successful medical examinations, the club finalized the agreement to strengthen its attacking line for the upcoming season.

Jovetic, born in 1989, spent the last two seasons at Omonia, where he recorded 66 appearances with 17 goals and 16 assists. Despite rumors suggesting a departure from Cyprus, the experienced forward expressed his desire to remain on the island, turning down other career paths, including a potential role in the Partizan Belgrade coaching staff. During the summer break, he maintained his physical conditioning by training with the Montenegrin club Arsenal Tivat.

This transfer is viewed as a significant strategic move for AEL, aimed at adding quality and European-level experience to the squad managed by Hugo Martins. The club confirmed the deal through an official statement from AEL FC LTD, marking a major addition to their roster just before the start of the new league campaign.
