Improvements in health status for victims of Paralimni jet ski accident

On August 15, a serious maritime accident occurred in the Pernera area of Paralimni, Cyprus, when a jet ski collided with a towed inflatable sofa-style tube. The jet ski was operated by a 17-year-old girl with an 18-year-old passenger, while the inflatable carried five family members, including two men aged 48 and 43 and three children aged 13, 11, and 7.

The 48-year-old man, who suffered a pelvic fracture and was in critical condition at the Nicosia General Hospital ICU, has now stabilized and been moved to the neurosurgical department. His 7-year-old daughter, who sustained a head injury during the collision, has been discharged from Makarios Hospital after several days of treatment.

Famagusta police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, including the speed of the watercraft and whether the 17-year-old operator possessed a valid learner's permit. Authorities have stated that significant investigative work remains before a final decision regarding potential criminal charges is reached.
