Tender launched for new Deneia-Akaki-Astromeritis motorway in Cyprus

The Cypriot Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, through the Department of Public Works, has officially launched a tender for the design and construction of the Deneia-Akaki-Astromeritis motorway. This project, with an estimated cost of €138 million, involves the construction of an 18-kilometer, four-lane highway in the Nicosia District. The new road will bypass the communities of Akaki, Peristerona, and Astromeritis, connecting the existing Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia (A9) motorway to the newly completed Astromeritis-Evrychou section.

Interested parties must submit their bids by December 18, 2026. The technical specifications include two lanes in each direction, each 3.5 meters wide, complemented by 3-meter-wide paved shoulders. Construction is projected to commence within the first half of 2027. This infrastructure initiative represents Phase C of the broader Nicosia-Troodos motorway project. It follows the previously completed Phase A (Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia) and Phase B (Kokkinotrimithia-Deneia), while Phase D is already established as the completed Astromeritis-Evrychou connection. The completion of this segment is expected to significantly improve transit efficiency in the region.
