APOEL loans Diego Rosa to Qarabag

APOEL Nicosia has officially confirmed the loan of Brazilian midfielder Diego Rosa to the Azerbaijani club Qarabag FK for the upcoming season. The decision, finalized on August 30, 2026, was driven by the club's financial requirements and the player's own desire to pursue the move, as indicated by club president Charis Photiou earlier in the week.

The agreement includes a conditional purchase option for Qarabag to be exercised next summer. Should the Azerbaijani side activate this clause, APOEL will retain a significant percentage of the player's economic rights. Prior to the official announcement, APOEL spokesperson Nectarios Petevinos had noted that negotiations were nearing completion while simultaneously dismissing rumors linking the team to players from Aris Thessaloniki, such as Donis, Moron, and Galanopoulos.

Following Rosa’s departure, APOEL is now intensifying its efforts in the transfer market. Strengthening the midfield has become a top priority for coach Nikos Papadopoulos, alongside the recruitment of a central striker. The club also continues to evaluate the possibility of acquiring an additional central defender as they look to finalize their roster composition.
