Omonia Nicosia pursues Heerenveen midfielder Luuk Brouwers

Omonia Nicosia has officially expressed interest in signing 27-year-old midfielder Luuk Brouwers from Dutch club SC Heerenveen. The Nicosia-based club has submitted an initial transfer offer to secure the player, but it was rejected by the Dutch side. SC Heerenveen technical director Johan Hansma confirmed that while the first bid was turned down, the club is open to further negotiations regarding the player's future.

Brouwers, who has one year remaining on his contract, is currently not in the plans of manager Robin Feldman. The player is reportedly considering his options and is open to moving abroad, with Omonia's participation in the Europa League League Phase serving as a significant incentive. Reports suggest that the transfer saga remains active, and Omonia is expected to re-evaluate their next steps to finalize the deal.

Historically, Brouwers played a key role for Heerenveen in December 2024, when his late goal secured a victory against Willem II. Despite interest from other clubs in the past, including Wolfsburg, his current focus is on finalizing a move to facilitate his career progression following a decline in his playing time under the current coaching staff.
