Deadly Russian drone strike on warehouse in Kyiv region

A Russian drone strike hit a warehouse containing explosive materials in the village of Myla, located in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, late on Friday, August 28. The impact triggered a massive fire and secondary detonations that caused significant damage to nearby residential buildings and infrastructure. According to the latest update from Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko, at least 37 people were killed, including the mayor of the village of Dmytrivka, and 42 others were injured. Over 380 residents were evacuated from the area as emergency services and coordination centers were deployed to manage the aftermath.

Ukrainian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on potential official negligence regarding the storage of explosive materials in a residential zone. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the storage of ammunition near homes and promised that those responsible would be held accountable. In parallel events, drone attacks were reported in Sevastopol, Crimea, and the Russian city of Belgorod, resulting in casualties and property damage. Ukrainian officials also reported that Russian strikes recently destroyed storage and sorting facilities belonging to Nova Poshta in the Kyiv and Sumy regions.
