Dog attacks 12-year-old child in Heraklion

A 12-year-old boy was attacked by a mixed-breed male dog on the night of Thursday, August 27, 2026, in the city of Heraklion. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the dog, belonging to a 25-year-old man, escaped the control of his 28-year-old sister who was walking the animal at the time. The dog bit the child on the left side of his body, specifically targeting the hip and back, resulting in multiple bruises and lacerations.

The victim was immediately transported to the University General Hospital of Heraklion, where he received medical treatment for his injuries. Following the attack, local police arrested the 28-year-old woman for her failure to maintain control over the dog. Authorities also imposed the legally mandated administrative fines on the owner.
