Francis Uzoho transfers from Omonia to Omonia 29M

Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has officially completed a transfer to Omonia 29M, following a six-year tenure with Omonia Nicosia. The move was finalized on August 29, 2026, after Uzoho became surplus to requirements at his former club due to the acquisition of Thomas Kaminski. During his time at Omonia Nicosia, the 27-year-old goalkeeper made 70 appearances, kept 23 clean sheets, and was part of squads that won one league title and two cups.

This transfer is considered historic as it marks the first official administrative cooperation between the two clubs since Omonia 29M was founded in 2018. Adamos Efstathiou, head of Omonia 29M, confirmed that a direct telephone conversation between himself and Omonia Nicosia president Stavros Papastavrou helped break an unofficial long-standing embargo between the two organizations.

Uzoho expressed his gratitude to the fans and staff of Omonia Nicosia in an emotional farewell statement, noting that his departure was not his own choice. He had been spotted attending a match of his new club on August 28, the night before the official announcement of his signing.
