Cabinet announces leadership transition for National Guard Deputy Chief

During a session held at Troodos on August 29, 2026, the Council of Ministers of Cyprus made key decisions regarding the leadership of the National Guard. The government formally approved the extension of the term of the current Deputy Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Neofytos Pachoulidis, until December 31, 2026.

Simultaneously, the Council confirmed the appointment of Major General Charis Georgiou as the new Deputy Chief. This leadership transition is structured to ensure a smooth handover, with Major General Georgiou set to assume his duties on January 1, 2027, following the completion of Lieutenant General Pachoulidis's tenure at the end of the current year.
