Tasos Bakasetas linked to Omonia transfer from Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos captain Tasos Bakasetas is reportedly close to a move to Cypriot club Omonia. According to reports from August 29, 2026, Panathinaikos owner Giannis Alafouzos is prepared to pay compensation exceeding 1.3 million euros to facilitate the 33-year-old midfielder's exit and help reconcile the salary difference between his current contract and the new deal offered by the Cypriot club.

The 33-year-old midfielder currently earns over 2 million euros annually at Panathinaikos. While Bakasetas is reportedly satisfied with the project in Cyprus and the prospect of playing in a familiar Greek-speaking environment, his current high salary remains a financial hurdle for Omonia.
