Opening round of the 2026 Cyprus league season results
The 2026 Cyprus League by Stoiximan season commenced with several high-stakes matches. Pafos FC, the reigning champions, secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Karmiotissa at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium, with goals from Kina (45'), Ngamaleu (49'), and Anderson (61'). Simultaneously, AEL Limassol defeated Anorthosis 2-0 at the Alphamega Stadium, thanks to goals from Catakovic and Gomis. However, the victory was marred by serious injuries to both goalscorers.
The opening round concluded on August 31 with a surprise result at the GSP Stadium, where reigning champions Omonia Nicosia were held to a 0-0 draw by Omonia Aradippou. Despite Omonia controlling the game, Omonia Aradippou hit the woodwork three times, earning a valuable point under manager Giannos Okkas. Omonia's goal by Kakoullis was disallowed by VAR in the 47th minute.
